Same problem here. I got the Sony MDR-EX71SL Fontopia Headphones with Closed Type Design which are excellent and pain-free.

It is such a relief to hear someone else say that! I thought that I had some kind of strange-shaped ears or something. How many more of us are out there? Perhaps they are ashamed to come out because they want to hang on to those trendy, white cords.

The Bose TriPort Headphones. They are ‘over the ear, cup type’ but in a very light package. I tried them on at Target (of all places), the sound is just amazing and they fit comfortably over your ears, with glasses on. Most important the compact size would fit reasonably well in a backpack an does not make you look like vintage princess Leia.
