Why, Brian…what a nice figure you have

The “Strumpette” = Brian Connolly? I think so. At the VERY least, someone at the Literati Group has some ’splaining to do.

(let me say, first – I don’t have a particular problem with the Strumpette. It’s marginally funny, and acts like a stripper in a nursing home, which is always due to stir things up. But Wonkette it’s not.)

First, on the Strumpette. Netcraft tells us this: Nameserver Organisation Literati Group, 111 East Chestnut, 30G, Chicago, 60611, United States

Ok, interesting but not significant.

The privacy policy on Strumpette is, however. Googling “We may use your data to customize and improve your experience here on this site” in quotes yields only one result: . Same template, same layout. Same lack of contact information.

Same Netcraft data, too.

They left too much data embedded in their RSS feed. Including a description of Views from the Tower, “Opinions Thirty Floors Up Looking West” 111 East Chestnut, 30G faces west – I’ll bet a dollar on that.

Besides, I don’t have to. Guess what else is in the RSS feed?

[UPDATE] Brian drops by the comment thread. Oh, and I should point out – that while the Strumpette is collecting links and trackbacks from all over – this post wasn’t allowed to trackback. Hmmm.

    Interesting. Not conclusive, since it could be someone doing someone else a favour.

    But it sure looks like this Brian has his hands into this thing in a big way. Nice detective work.

    Could be a set up, the code is almost too sloppy. Could be someone working for Mr. Connolly, with or without his blessing (and without speculating on whether or not the bio is truthful and referring to the boss in the present tense.)

    Gentlemen:

    My name is Brian Connolly. Your posting was brought to my attention late last night. Allow me to address your suspicions.

    1. I am an internet host and reseller. I have numerous clients, all sharing a common server.

    2. As a reseller, I also park a couple hundred domain names.

    3. I use and employ various freely available open-source applications. My modifications and templates have been distributed widely.

    4. I have a dynamic IP address through RCN, along with numerous other RCN Chicago customers.

    Truth is, I have my own suspicions of the identity of your Strumpette. However, I do not know. But if I did, I surely would not tell you.

    Not buying it, Brian. If you’re a reseller – then you have a lot more than “suspicions”. You have perfect knowledge. And of all the “widely distributed” templates – only ONE other site has the same language in the privacy policy.

    Is ViewsFromTheTower someone else as well?

    Excuse me, I can name over 20 sites with the exact same privacy policy. I do know that first hand because I installed them.

    Listen, and I say this with all due respect, I don’t give a damn what you think. As I said, I may or may not know the identity of your “strumpette.” Fact is, I don’t. But if I did, it would be confidential and I surely would not tell you.

    Peddle your juvenile conspiracy theories someplace else.

    OK, PR background I see…but you really have to have more than just a screw loose to become a raving litigious net troll, and I’m not buying someone like that being able to pull off what the anonymous blogger has. And I’m not buying the story of Connolly going to the trouble and expense of using domainsbyproxy.com for the domain but then putting the “anonymous” blog on his own box, when he could have put it on any of 20,100,000 cheap blog hosting sites.

    i must say i am Glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better. I see that the pirate theme is back!
    While I was in Disney World, I got a chance to ride the new revamped Pirates of the Carribean (sp?). It was really cool how they worked Captain Jack Sparrow into the ride. They even had a guy dressed up as him outside the ride giving tips on how to be a pirate. The kids seem to love that character!
